What is FTP?

FTP is an abbreviated term that stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP basically allows you to transfer files to and from the servers.  FTP is used to upload your web site to the server so that it is accessible on the Internet. There are many free FTP programs available including the widely used FileZilla.
